asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give extra tax relief to one-parent families.

Since taking office my right hon. Friend has increased the additional personal allowance for those with singlehanded responsibility for children by £50 and the income tax child allowances by £40. My right hon. Friend will naturally continue to keep the position of one-parent families under review.
