Mr. Sillars

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the rate of repossession of houses by building societies in the last months; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dell

This is a matter for the building societies and not the Government, and no statistics are kept. However, I understand that the rate of repossessions is much the same this year as it was three or four years ago.
