asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Maldivians obtain employment at Gan.

The total number of locally entered civilian employees on the island of Gan is currently 946 distributed as follows:

was charged to the funds of employing Departments as follows:

Ministry of Defence	£134,293
Department of the Environment	£154,503
	£288,796

Over the same period the total wage bill including overtime and allowances for Pakistani contract workers on Gan was £60,854 allocated as follows:

Ministry of Defence	£30,084
Department of the Environment	£30,770
	£60,854

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how long the United Kingdom's lease of Gan has to run.

We have the use of Gan until 1986.
