§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the number of experimental and research establishments in the Services, the number of officers and civilians employed there and the extent to which they are to be cut.
§ Mr. William RodgersThere are 29 main experimental and research establishments. On 1st November 1974 the approximate numbers employed including all support staff were 750 Service personnel and 33,600 civilians. Cuts in manpower have not yet been determined precisely but they will be consistent with the intention to reduce planned expenditure on research and development by some 10 per cent.
