HC Deb 11 December 1974 vol 883 c197W
Mr. Tebbit

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what tasks, assigned to which units in which locations, will be left unfulfilled by the reduction in the planned purchases of light helicopters.

Mr. William Rodgers

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer I gave the right hon. Member for Worcester (Mr. Walker) on 9th December 1974.—[Vol. 883, c.74.]

Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how the proposed cut of 25 per cent. in the number of RAF helicopters will be divided between the helicopter forces assigned to (a) Germany, (b) the United Nations in Cyprus, (c) Northern Ireland and (d) search and rescue squadrons in the United Kingdom.

Mr. John

We are proposing to achieve the reduction in the size of the planned RAF helicopter force by not proceeding with all the previously planned improvements to the force and by contracting commitments overseas as envisaged in the statement made on 3rd December. Further details must await the conclusion of the consultations on which we are now embarked.
