HC Deb 11 December 1974 vol 883 cc170-3W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish a list in the OFFICIAL REPORT of the 52 negotiating bodies which still have discriminatory collective agreements.

Mr. John Fraser

At the end of September 1974 there were 97 collective agreements on the DE register which contained discriminatory references to women. These are listed below. I have written to the negotiating bodies of those agreements which, from the information available to me, did not seem to be making adequate progress. The agreements are broadly those with women's rates less than 95 per cent. of the lowest men's rates and without firm plans known to me for phased progress towards equal pay. These are marked with an asterisk.

In my answer to my hon. Friend of 3rd December I said I was writing to 52 negotiating bodies. In fact I have not written to nine of these, mainly because the very latest information since my answer shows substantial further progress towards equal pay.
