HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 cc118-9W
Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if he will seek to obtain and publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT particulars of how many teachers in special schools are qualified in the teaching of children with dyslexic or specific reading difficulties; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if, in the light of the fact that it is not possible to provide details of the numbers of teachers qualified in remedial teaching of children with specific reading difficulties, he is satisfied with the range of statistics collected by his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Armstrong

The Department's information about teachers and their qualifications is in very great detail but does not include a fully comprehensive record of the training courses teachers have undertaken. I am satisfied that my Department collects adequate statistics.
