HC Deb 10 December 1974 vol 883 c82W
27. Mr. Watkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will make a statement on the provision of assisted travel schemes for National Health Service employees particularly in rural areas.

Mr. Alec Jones

Assistance with travel to work is provided for staff at National Health Service institutions in isolated rural areas, when this is considered necessary by employing authorities to maintain services. Where feasible, assistance takes the form of a transport service; in other cases a contribution towards the cost of the daily journey by public transport or car is made to lower-paid staff.
