HC Deb 09 December 1974 vol 883 cc35-6W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will outline the progress of investigations to discover new sources of uranium for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.

Mr. Eadie

The main requirement for uranium lies with the electricity generating boards rather than with the UKAEA. The boards' needs into the early 1980s are covered by existing stocks of uranium and supplies due under existing contracts. British Nuclear Fuels Limited, as agent for the boards, is seeking opportunities to place further long-term contracts for the delivery of material through the 1980s and beyond.
