§ Mr. Gouldasked the Secretary of State for Trade what progress has been made in talks with Commonwealth countries, and especially New Zealand, about the sort of trading arrangements which would be made if this country were to leave the EEC.
§ Mr. Shore, pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 6th December 1974 ; Vol. 882, c. 686],gave the following information :
I have had detailed discussions with a number of Commonwealth countries, including New Zealand, about the trade aspects of renegotiation. In these discussions I also exchanged views on the situation which would arise if we were to withdraw. But at this stage of renegotiation it would be premature to ask other countries to consider detailed arrangements for that contingency.
