Mr. Spearing

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the approximate quantity of wheat and maize, respectively, imported for use as animal feedstock from June 1973 to June 1974 and its cost in sterling.

Estimates of the quantities of wheat and maize imported into the United Kingdom by animal compounders for use as feeding stuffs during the period 1st July 1973 to 30th June 1974 together with the approximate cost are given below;

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he can estimate the quantity of wheat and maize, respectively, used in animal and poultry feed in the United Kingdom in the period June 1973 to June 1974 and the respective proportions of each grain that were imported.

The estimated quantities of wheat and maize used in animal and poultry feed compounds and delivered straight by compounders in the United Kingdom between 1st July 1973 and 30th June 1974 together with the proportion imported are given below:
