Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the United Kingdom's consumption of butter for the latest available three months; and how this compares with consumption for the corresponding period in the preceding three years.

Mr. Bishop

Estimated United Kingdom consumption of butter in the three months July to September 1974, the latest period for which figures are available, was 112,000 tons. Consumption in these three months in 1971, 1972 and 1973 respectively was 105,000 tons, 95,000 tons and 98,000 tons.
