HC Deb 06 December 1974 vol 882 c685W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he has any plans to designate Abbotsinch Airport, Glasgow, under the Aviation Act 1971; and, if so, how the airport will be designated.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Noise abatement measures at Abbotsinch are at present primarily a matter for Glasgow Corporation and will become the responsibility of the British Airports Authority once it has acquired the airport. I believe that the corporation and the authority will act responsibly in these matters and accordingly I see no need to designate the airport pursuant to Section 29 of the Civil Aviation Act 1971.
