HC Deb 05 December 1974 vol 882 c591W
76. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government on automatic threshold increases in salary and pay.

Mr. Booth

The Government expect negotiators to have regard to the TUC guidelines, which recommend the negotiation of settlements to compensate for rises in the cost of living, taking into account that threshold agreements will already have given some compensation for current price increases.

Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will seek powers to ensure that threshold payments are not paid to those earning more than £2,500 a year.

Mr. Booth

No.
