HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 cc489-90W
Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what orders have been placed by the Central Electricity Generating Board and the South of Scotland Electricity Board for SGHWR power stations in the United Kingdom; and where are the sites.

Mr. Eadie

No orders have yet been placed. Complex issues are involved, and we are proceeding as fast as is practicable. The patterns of orders and sites are among the issues being urgently considered.

Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many countries have made inquiries regarding the purchase of British built SGHWRs.

Mr. Eadie

Since our decision to go ahead with the SGHWR several countries have expressed interest in the system, and discussions on engineering design, visits to facilities and to the prototype at Winfrith Heath have taken place.
