§ Miss Harvie Andersonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied that the re-equipment presently being provided for neighbouring local authorities' fire committees, as recommended by his Department, is operationally interchangeable and compatible.
§ Mr. William RossFire authorities are responsible for the provision of communications for fire brigades. The advice of my Department is available to authorities on request. Such advice relates to the technical means of meeting the operational requirements laid down by the fire authorities. I am satisfied that the operational need for communication between neighbouring fire brigades is fully met by the radio or land-line facilities which exist or have been recommended.
