HC Deb 04 December 1974 vol 882 cc495-6W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what compensation has been given to victims of bomb attacks in England over the past year; and if he is satisfied with the present arrangements.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

Since the incident at the Old Bailey on 8th March 1973, and up to 27th November 1974, a total of £95,586 in compensation has been paid under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme to persons injured as a result of bomb, including postal bomb, explosions in Great Britain, or to the dependants of those who have died. All the incidents occurred in England. I am satisfied that the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme at present provides the most acceptable and effective way of paying compensation in these unfortunate circumstances.
