HC Deb 03 December 1974 vol 882 c438W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied that there will be sufficient supplies of fresh home-produced beef available in Great Britain during the next five years.

Mr. Bishop

It is impossible to forecast so far ahead in any useful way, but our present estimate is that adequate supplies will be available throughout 1975 and into 1976. It is with the long-term position in mind that my right hon. Friend has said that he intends to see that the Community's new beef regime will provide equivalent support to the measures negotiated on 18th–19th November.
