§ Mr. KaufmanIn England and Wales, it is estimated that there are now 25 million people living in owner-occupied housing, 15 million in local authority or new town housing, 5½ million in privately rented accommodation, and about 2\ million in tied accommodation. Nearly 29,000 people were living in temporary accommodation provided for the homeless at the end of March 1974.
