HC Deb 02 December 1974 vol 882 cc386-7W
Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will have full consultations with all the local authorities concerned before arriving at any decision about building a new airport in North Cheshire.

Mr. John Silkin

The suggestion made by consultants that a new airport should be built in North Cheshire is still being considered by the Civil Aviation Authority, which is itself meeting local authorities in the area before making its recommendations to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade. Further action will depend on the substance of its recommendations, but a decision to build a new airport would not be taken without the widest consultation.
