To 31st March, 1974 … £1.9million Estimated expenditure for: 1974–75 … £1.3 million 1975–76 … £1.1 million These costs include the necessary alterations to the central reserve safety fences. The expenditure on other lighting installed as an integral part of motorway construction is not readily available.

§ Mr. CarmichaelTo date lighting has been provided on some 160 miles of the Department's motorways and is about to be installed on a further 67 miles. There is no continuing programme for lighting motorways; each case is considered on its merits, and I cannot anticipate what lighting may be provided over the next five years.
