§ Mr. Corbettasked the Secretary of State for Trade what plans have been made to monitor the expected increase in noise levels on the new northbound air route over Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead, the Gaddesdens, Markyate and Flamstead arising from revision of the London terminal control area.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisThe new route is not due to come into operation until the spring of 1975 and there is, therefore, adequate time to consider the question of monitoring noise levels.
§ Mr. Corbettasked the Secretary of State for Trade what are the estimated NNI ratings for Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead, Great Gaddesden, Markyate and Flamstead arising from the revision of the London terminal control area.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisAssuming that the volume of traffic and the types of aircraft involved remain fairly constant, the levels of Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead and Great Gaddesden should not be higher than 35 NNI. At Markyate and Flamstead the levels as a result of revision are not expected to be significantly higher than the present levels, which lie between 35 and 45 NNI.
§ Mr. Corbettasked the Secretary of State for Trade what consultations were held with local authorities, airport consultative committees, amenity associations and other groups with a known interest in aircraft noise before agreeing to revisions in the London terminal control areas proposed by the Civil Aviation Authority.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisNo such prior consultations were held, but explanatory documents were sent out on 18th September to 28 hon. Members, 26 county borough and district councils, four airport consultative committees and 13 other bodies with an interest in aircraft378W noise. Copies of the documents were subsequently sent to 17 other bodies and individuals. It was, and is, open to all recipients of the document to comment on the proposed changes.
