§ 29. Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give consideration to a survey similar to that published by the United States Department of Labour detailing how long the British labour force hold their current jobs and how far this compares with similar periods of service in 1956 and 1966; and if he will make available information on the proportion of employees in the current labour force who are fulfilling jobs that nad not existed before they took over.
§ Mr. BoothI have been unable to trace the American survey referred to by402W my hon. Friend and I should welcome further details. The information requested is not available for the United Kingdom but the New Earnings Survey, held in April 1973, gave the following related information for Great Britain: 17 per cent. of males in employment and 26 per cent. of females in employment had worked for their current employer for less than 12 months. The corresponding figures for April 1972 were 14 per cent. of males and 22 per cent. of females. Information for 1956 and 1966 is not available. I have no information about the proportion of employees who are occupying newly-created jobs.
