HC Deb 30 April 1974 vol 872 c411W
Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will seek to reduce the waiting time for ear, nose and throat operations when the patient is suffering from symptoms of deafness.

Dr. Owen

As I said in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Ormskirk (Mr. Kilroy-Silk) during the debate on the Adjournment on 11th April.—[Vol. 872, c. 705–9.]—I am determined to introduce a nationwide programme substantially to reduce waiting lists in all areas and specialties where they are indefensibly long. As regards deafness, I regret that separate waiting lists are not usually kept for ENT patients in this category.
