Mr. David Price

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many qualified medical practitioners were known to have emigrated from the United Kingdom in each year from 1960 to 1973; how many were known to have immigrated into the United Kingdom in each year from 1960 to 1973; and what percentage of total number of practising medical practitioners each category represented in each year.

Comparable data are not available about the numbers of doctors entering Great Britain to practise under limited conditions with temporary registration, but according to departmental records the numbers in post in England and Wales have risen as follows:
