HC Deb 30 April 1974 vol 872 c409W
Mr. Molloy

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will arrange for the former American Forces Hospital in Ruislip, Middlesex, to be part of the reconstituted area health board; and if she will make a statement.

Dr. Owen

The former American Air Force Hospital at South Ruislip became redundant to requirements in October 1972 and the former North-West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board after very detailed consideration, in consultation with other interested bodies in the area, concluded in May 1973 that the premises were unsuitable for health service use. The property, which has been employed temporarily for another purpose, is in the hands of the Property Services Agency of the Department of the Environment under normal disposal procedures, and my Department is discussing with the agency the possibility of its being used permanently for certain hospital training purposes.
