HL Deb 10 April 1974 vol 350 c1360WA
LORD O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How they interpret the provisions of the Treaty of Rome which govern the principles of freedom of movement of goods and rights of establishment in so far as they affect oil in the North and Celtic seas.

LORD GORONWY-ROBERTS

It is the declared intention of Her Majesty's Government to secure the maximum benefit for the British people from our oil resources in the North and Celtic seas. The interpretation of the relevant Treaty provisions has not yet arisen.
