HC Deb 10 April 1974 vol 872 c155W
33. Mr. Douglas-Mann

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether, after consultation with the Governments of Bangladesh and Pakistan, he will make representations to the United Nations Commissioner for Refugees concerning the plight of the Biharis remaining in Bangladesh.

Miss Joan Lestor

I understand that this subject was discussed at the recent tripartite meeting in Delhi between the Governments of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh which ended yesterday, and that an announcement on the results of the talks is expected shortly. If, as a result of these discussions, there is a helpful rôle which we, as part of the international community, can play, we shall be glad to consider this.
