HC Deb 09 April 1974 vol 872 cc95-6W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what estimate she has made of the increase in the number of potential recipients of supplementary benefit who are affected by the wage stop provisions as a result of her proposals in the National Insurance Bill.

Mr. O'Malley

It is not possible at this stage to make any forecast. The proposed increase in the prescribed amounts for family income supplement is one factor which will help to counter-balance the increase in supplementary benefit scale rates, but there are others which cannot yet be assessed.
