HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 c14W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will undertake a special study of the relatively higher prices of foodstuffs and fuels in rural areas to ascertain whether special measures should be introduced to hold down prices in those areas.

Mr. Maclennan

The Government's first priority must be the restraint of price increases. This is being pursued by measures of general application which, as a package, are intended to bring relief to all areas. I am, however, considering whether special measures are necessary in remote areas.
