§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will undertake a special study of the relatively higher prices of foodstuffs and fuels in rural areas to ascertain whether special measures should be introduced to hold down prices in those areas.
§ Mr. MaclennanThe Government's first priority must be the restraint of price increases. This is being pursued by measures of general application which, as a package, are intended to bring relief to all areas. I am, however, considering whether special measures are necessary in remote areas.
