HC Deb 08 April 1974 vol 872 cc47-8W
Mr. MacFarlane

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will announce her Department's plans for the future of the Belmont and Henderson Hospitals.

Dr. Owen

The new South-West Thames Regional Health Authority is pursuing the former South-West Metropolitan Regional Hospitals Board's plans to vacate the Belmont and Henderson Hospitals as soon as alternative accommodation can be made available. Belmont Hospital is likely to become vacant later this year apart from a limited amount of staff accommodation which will remain in use for at least 18 months.

The former board had planned to move the patients and staff from Henderson Hospital to accommodation at Banstead Hospital. The new authority will shortly be discussing this proposal with the North-West Thames Regional Health Authority which now manages Banstead Hospital.
