HC Deb 05 April 1974 vol 871 c469W
Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will give the reasons for the shortage of baler twine in Great Britain; and whether the purchase of this commodity by Europeans on the retail market in Great Britain at a lower price than in Europe is a contributing factor.

Mr. Meacher

There is no general shortage, and total production this year is expected to be enough for the 1974 harvest. I know of no evidence that Europeans are buying this commodity on the retail market.
