HL Deb 04 April 1974 vol 350 cc1123-4WA
VISCOUNT FURNESS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that the Press reports of March 21–22 of the relaxation of Regulations made under the State of Emergency, regarding the use of electricity in offices and shops and for display lighting, really reflect the intentions of the Government; or whether, in the national and world interest in the conservation of energy resources, an appeal should be made to the public to maintain vigilance in avoiding the use of non-essential electricity.

LORD BALOGH

My right honourable Friend the Secretary of State for Energy when he announced on March 21 in another place the lifting of all remaining restrictions emphasised the continuing need for economy and appealed to all consumers to cut out waste.
