49. Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will set up a permanent committee of inquiry within his Department to examine all cases of excess bullying reported by local education authorities, if connected with the death of a pupil such as the case in Southampton which has been submitted to him.

I have explained to the hon. Member in reply to his letter of 21st March why I do not think that this is the best way to deal with this problem.
