§ Mr. Liptonasked the Prime Minister whether he will review the functioning of the intelligence and security services in the light of recent statements made by Kenneth Littlejohn to the Press and the BBC.
§ The Prime MinisterNo. It is not the normal practice for Ministers to comment on allegations of this kind. Statements about this particular case were made by the previous Government in August last year, because of the involvement of Ministers at the time, of which we were ourselves critical. On the main issues, however, I do not propose to add anything to the previous Government's statements, save to say that no credence can be attached to what Littlejohn has said about the details of his relations with the British intelligence and security services, and that nothing he has said would justify making this matter the subject of further review or independent inquiry.
