HC Deb 01 April 1974 vol 871 c290W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what is the amount of aid paid by the Government to date for the relief of people affected by famine in Ethiopia; and if she will make a statement on her plans for the further provision of such aid.

Mrs. Hart

£350,000 has been allocated for relief and rehabilitation measures, including a food-for-work programme, the supply and air freighting of food and medicines and a feeder road construction programme under the supervision of the Royal Engineers. I am now assessing the progress made and the extent of future needs.
