§ Mr. Russell Johnstonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will now seek to amend the Civil Aviation Act 1949 to restore to the citizen the right to sue airports and airlines for noise nuisance caused by aircraft in flight.
§ Mr. OnslowI do not consider this would be appropriate. However, the Land Compensation Act 1973 now provides for compensation to be paid, in certain circumstances, where the value of property has been demonstrably reduced through an increase in aircraft noise caused by new airports or major works at existing airports.
