HC Deb 27 November 1973 vol 865 c98W
Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what special provisions are being made in the event of motor fuel rationing for disabled drivers.

Mr. Emery

If motor fuel rationing were introduced there would be special arrangements to enable disabled drivers, where necessary, to get more than the basic allowance. Special allocations would be given to disabled persons who, in the course of their work, used either (a) a vehicle provided by the Department of Health and Social Security, (b) a vehicle in respect of which a grant or annual maintenance allowance was payable by that Department, or (c) a vehicle which was exempt from payment of excise duty. All disabled drivers, whether private or business users, would be given special priority in claim for supplementary allowances.
