§ Mr. Peter ThomasIn 1972–73 the grow cost of providing free school meals in Wales was estimated to be £2.5 million. Complete figures on which to base an estimate for 1973–74 are not yet available but the cost is not likely to be substantially different. Overall approximately 58 per cent. of local authorities' relevant expenditure is met from the rate support grant.
