§ Mr. Peter ThomasMy office has written to possible claimants for home loss payments who were displaced between 17th October 1972 and 23rd May 1973—when the Land Compensation Act 1973 came into force—as a result of a scheme 357W for which I am responsible. Advertisements were also placed in the national Press in October and early November drawing attention to the deadline of 22nd November for claims to be made.
Local authorities have been asked on two occasions to ensure that possible claimants affected by their schemes were notified of their rights.
