Mr. Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on material supplies, particularly steel and raw materials derived from oil, to small businesses.

Mr. Emery

The present high level of economic activity has led to a strong upsurge in demand and consequent difficulties with the supply of a number of materials, including steel and those derived from oil. The suppliers of these products have assured the Government that they will do all they can to satisfy the needs of all their customers including small businesses.
