HC Deb 07 November 1973 vol 863 cc181-2W
Mr. Scott-Hopkins

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he is taking to meet the request of the Indian Government for tariff preferences.

Sir G. Howe

I assume that my hon. Friend is referring to the possibility of improvements in the Community's Generalised Scheme of Preferences on products of special interest to India. As the Indian Government are aware, Her Majesty's Government are pressing in Brussels for a number of changes in the scheme with India's interests particularly in mind.
