§ Mr. ChannonThe Council of the Building Societies Association decided on 12th October that it was willing in principle to recommend to its member societies a selective scheme for first-time purchasers based on the deferment of interest. It is urgently studying consequential technical issues with a view to promulgating and recommending a detailed scheme to its members as soon as possible. It is hoped that the scheme will be introduced by individual societies shortly thereafter.
