HC Deb 05 November 1973 vol 863 cc94-5W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consultations have been held by his Department concerning the Ready Mix Concrete Company's plans for a water leisure park at Thorpe; and if he will make a statement on the present position.

Mr. Graham Page

An application for outline planning permission for a water park was referred to the Secretary of State as a substantial departure from the provisions of the development plan in October 1971. In December 1971 my right hon. Friend the then Secretary of State for the Environment decided that the application should be left to the local planning authority to determine. Outline planning permission was granted in January 1972 and I understand that the local planning authority now has under consideration an application for detailed planning permission.

Consultations have recently taken place with the company concerning accommodation works in connection with the acquisition of land in this area for the M3 motorway and agreement has been reached.
