§ Mr. CarlisleNo. Subject to the maximum penalties prescribed by law, the sentence to be imposed in any particular case is entirely a matter for the court to decide, in the light of the particular circumstances of the offence and the offender. But consistency in sentencing is the subject of training exercises, seminars and lectures and of material circulated by the Magistrates' Association.
