HC Deb 04 May 1973 vol 855 c374W
Mr. Mather

asked the Attorney-General how many cases are now awaiting trial on a charge of capital murder.

The Attorney-General

One defendant charged with capital murder in Northern Ireland has been committed for trial, and is now awaiting that trial. I understand that the Royal Ulster Constabulary has charged seven other men with offences of capital murder. The papers relating to one of these has now been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland for his consideration; the other six cases are still under investigation.
