§ Mr. Eldon GriffithsData was supplied in 1958 by the staff of the then river boards for an informal survey of river pollution on the understanding that details for individual river boards would not be published. Since then, reports of the more thorough and exact survey of 1970 and the updating of that survey in 1972 have been published. The latter shows a slight overall improvement since 1970, in terms of the chemical classification of mileages of rivers in the area of Yorkshire River Authority.
