Mr. Iremongerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what support has been given by the United Kingdom delegation to the United Nations to motions favouring Arab hostility to the State of Israel; and if he will ensure that in future Arab attacks on Israel are condemned by the United Kingdom delegation and that acts in defence of Israel are supported.
§ Lord BalnielThe policy of Her Majesty's Government is to do all they can to help towards a peaceful settlement in the Middle East on the basis of Security Council Resolution 242. This policy governs their attitude to United Nations resolutions and to acts of violence in the area. As such acts cannot contribute to a peaceful settlement we deplore them, whatever their source.
