§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether agreement has been reached with the Government of Eire as to the amount of compensation to be paid for the burning of the British Embassy in Dublin; what is the amount agreed; and when it will be paid.
§ Mr. AmeryThe Irish Government, with the agreement of the lessors of the embassy building at 39 Merrion Square, will, at their own expense, restore the property to its original condition. The question of financial compensation does not therefore arise except with regard to414W damaged contents of the embassy and vehicles. A claim covering the latter will be submitted to the Irish Government shortly.
