HL Deb 27 June 1973 vol 343 cc2056-7WA
LORD FERRIER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of the extreme paucity of reports of the proceedings of Parliament in the popular Press and the processed nature of the political news carried by the broadcasting media (with the exception of "To-day/ Yesterday in Parliament" on B.B.C. Radio 4), they will take steps to ensure that the bound Weekly Editions of Hansard of both Houses are available in all public, including mobile, libraries.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (LORD WINDLESHAM)

Copies of the bound weekly editions ofHansards of both Houses of Parliament are already available in a number of public libraries, and it is open to others to place orders if local demand exists. Expenditure by public libraries counts for rate support grant and the Government publications they require, including Hansard, are made available to them at half the published price.
